Does iHound™ work on Mac and Windows PC Operating Systems?  Show Answer
Yes! Mac and Windows PC Users can download and install iHound™ Software onto supported devices using this web site. However, the device tracking software will only be triggered when the device is connected to a PC running Windows 2000 / XP / Vista. While further Mac support is being worked on and will hopefully be released soon, Windows machines comprise the vast majority of the home computing marketplace, so chances are very good that a thief or good samaritan would be plugging your device into a PC.

I forgot my password and/or username, how do I log in?  Show Answer
Click on the "Forgot Username or Password" link on the homepage and then enter the email address you used to sign up for iHound software. You should receive an email within a couple of minutes. Make sure to check your junk mail folder if you don't receive one within ten minutes.
My device has been tracked, so now how do I get it back?  Show Answer
Once your device has been tracked, you can print a customized police report. The best course of action is to take your police report to your local police station and ask them to call the Internet Service Provider listed in the report. The police can then use the IP address listed in the report to track down the subscriber who last used your device and then hopefully recover it.

You should also feel free to contact iHound™ once your device has been tracked, and we will work with both you and the proper authorities to try and ensure a successful recovery of your device.
My iPod is not listed when I open up my computer...
how do I fix this?  Show Answer
The best way to fix this is to open up iTunes with your iPod attached to it.

Under the summary tab, make sure to check the "Manually Manage Music" tab and uncheck the "Open iTunes when the iPod is Connected".

After doing that, click "Apply" in the bottom right hand corner.
Allow the changes to take place. Now, the iPod should show up under "My Computer".

I'm receiving a Java-String Error Message when I try to install the software...
how do I fix this?  Show Answer
We're still in our initial test phase so any input we get is really helpful. If you're getting the "Java-String Error" please go back into your account and make sure that there are no symbols such as "$-*-&-'" in your device description or name. You'll need to re-download the software and re-install it on your device.

Why doesn't my exact location show up when my device has been tracked?  Show Answer
The actual location being tracked is the location of your Internet Service Provider, so it's not 100% exact due to privacy laws. We're constantly working on improving the location results and hope to have more specific results in the future.
